GREED AT LIGHT SPEED

I admit it. I don’t understand how 700 billion dollars is just lying around and why it should be used to bail out private companies to protect our private investments. And I don’t understand why we don’t forgive our own debt as we forgive those debtors in third world countries who trespass against us then want to make nice. ”AIDS vaccine my ass! Pay your freaking bills!”
McCain is riding into Washington like Mighty Mouse “Here I come to save the day.” I have mentioned before I thought a sub prime loan referred to interest rates not sub primate trashy people who were granted huge loans for mortgages to live in houses and neighborhoods above their class level “Anybody know where the fucking cat at?”
How about letting the forces of capitalism run their course? Hedge fund traders ,bond speculators, short sellers ,let them fly out of windows, just more fun for the rest of us who have never traded anything online besides fantasy football players.
Question: Can a dumb person be an anti intellectual? It would make a good writing prompt in a state testing exam.
Speaking of the economy and macroeconomics my grandmother Rose said,”The only macro you need to worry about ends with cheese. Contract and save during wild times. Learn to siphon gas without freezing your lungs and dying. Repay loans sporadically and hide your car at night. Ignore student loans and if you do answer the phone remember it ain’t you, you are never home.

Freddog,

Have you noticed greed, like sex, has no exclusive home with either political party when it comes to scandal? Let me ask you, what is the difference between the financial abuses of the last decade, and the gluttony of a large segment of society resulting in obesity and the cost to handle the medical impact of it?

It all comes back to the same thing - an inability to deny ourselves things we know will ultimately hurt us. We are the generations of instant gratification and self-indulgence, and it will lead us all to early death and destruction.

What did Grandmom Rose say about self-denial?

Peace,

Dave,
Once again the party of business wants the taxpayer to accede to, to them, the only acceptable form of socialism, i.e., socialism for the wealthy.
There is the old story about how R's and D's handle the leaking roof on the poor house. The D's pass a tax to have the roof repaired and sell the tin from the old roof for personal profit. The R's close the poor house, condemn the property, and sell it for personal profit.
Bidness is bidness.

There are things I could do outside the law but I could never "steal money" from a struggling person and call it good business.

You get old you repeat yourself but every 30 seconds. A guy at the gym asked me on a Monday "Did you go to the ravens game yesterday?" No,I went to the eagles game,"I said. Three minutes later he asked,'So what did you think of the ravens game. Did you go yesterday." No I didn't go the first time and there is no way to get there in three minutes." he asked,"well which way do you go." And I said,In this gym both ways.' then he gave me the route he travelled which he said is the fastest.

Freddog,

The sad part about the financial crisis is that the well-intentioned were as inept as the well-healed were greedy. Which is worse? I know, you Libs think intentions matter regardless of the outcome, but there is a fine line between ignorance and corruption, and I'm often not certain which side self-righteous Libs are on.

The bottom line - we all deserve better. I can hear Grandmom Rose . . . "stupid is letting anybody take advantage of you, regardless of whether they intend it or not."

What bothers me most about this is that no heads are rolling. It's weird, like everybody knows who is responsible but is afraid to say. Are we all idiots? Did we all just get our pockets picked for $700 billion and are not smart enough to know who did it? Fannie and Freddie opened the vault, and opportunists (greedy or stupid) cleaned it out. Who left the door open, and who cleaned it out?

Imagine if someone in authority had the opportunity to capture or kill a known murderous terrorist but turned the other way, and as a result the terrorist was free to kill thousands of innocent Americans. Would we let that person in authority off the hook? You bet, because we did! Worse yet, he tours the world parading as a benevolent hero, and receives six figure fees to speak for 45 minutes. No wonder American ethics ain't what they used to be, but then again, I guess Americans chickens are coming home to roost.

Peace,

The Messenger
